Beach Weddings Special Events Permit The beach at Tybee Island is a public beach. If you want to have a beach wedding and not block off portions of the beach just do it. If you intend to setup chairs and exclude the public from attending your wedding you must have a special events permit. Here at Tybee Island Wedding we can assist you with everything from the special events permit, catering, flowers, to actually conducting the wedding ceremony with a nondenominational ceremony. Call (912) 704-4454 to begin or email us here. With a portion of the beach being reserved a "Special Event Permit" approval is required, since the wedding would be utilizing a portion of public property to the exclusion of others. The basic philosophy is that if the wedding is similar to the usual use of the beach, where people erect their chairs or lay their blankets, no special arrangement is necessary. However, if a portion of the beach is "reserved for exclusive use", such as with tents, ropes, platforms, etc., then a "Special Event" occurs, requiring an application approval, possible fee, etc. To obtain
a Marriage License please contact the Chatham County Probate Court located
