New stamp will feature Tybee Lighthouse
Tybee Island soon to be recognized with a United States Postal Service Stamp
Tybee Island, GA
The Tybee Island Light Station is one of but a few remaining complete Light Stations in the world. Nearing full restoration under the watchful eye of Light Station Keeper Cullen Chambers and his staff, The Tybee Island Light Station stands as one of North America's most beautifully renovated Light Stations. A must see for everyone. On top of that, Tybee Island is one of the most laid back, environmentally pleasing places left on the east coast. You can elect for the hustle and bustle of the South Beach. Or, relax and enjoy some time away from the rat race on the North end.
Tybee Island also offers military historic sites having a portion of Battery "B" from Fort Screven renovated into a museum.
June 13, 2003 will be a glorious day when Tybee Island opens her doors for the nation with the designation of a First Day of Issue Stamp in honor of the Tybee Island Light Station.
