The
Commanders Corner
By George Walker
American Legion Post 154
Commander Tybee Island, GA
Our Patriot's
Day ceremonies will be on Friday, September 11th. We will honor the courage and
sacrifice of our men and women in the many areas of Public Service and all branches
of the service.
There will be music, singing and food. If you can, bring
a covered dish and a big appetite. As always we expect a great turnout to honor
the people of the United States on Patriot's Day.
Another important event.
Past Commander of the Sons of the Legion, Paul Birge, and his fellow Squadron
members want to say "Thank You Tybee".
On Saturday, September 12th,
they are going to show the Georgia/South Carolina football game in the Legion
Hall and bar-b-cue dinners will be available for ONE dollar. That's BBQ, baked
beans and coleslaw for $1.00.
We open at 5:00pm, food will be served at 6:00pm
and the game starts at 7:00pm.
Also, we want to congratulate our new Squadron
Commander Jim Marsh and fellow officers. Welcome aboard Jim and crew.
Remember
it's membership renewal time. Our new Legion year began July first, so try to
take care of your renewal the next time you're at the Post.
If you're interested
in joining the Legion, Ladies Auxiliary or Sons of the American Legion call the
Post for information after 5pm (786-5356) or me at 596-1674.
As always, Linda
or Patti will have the canteen open at 5pm every day and bingo will be Friday
night at 8pm. Our monthly Legion meetings are on the 2nd Monday of the month at
7pm with dinner served at 6 pm.
For God and Country
