The
Commanders Corner
By George Walker
American Legion Post 154
Commander Tybee Island, GA
Once again our
Patriot Day commemoration was a great success. The hall was full as we paid tribute
to those who died on September 11, 2001 and to the courage and sacrifice of our
men and women in the many areas of Public Service and all branches of the Military.
The food was fantastic and the songs sung by Ron Calhoun and Lynn Marston
had everyone standing tall, proud to be an American.
The Veteran's Circle
of Freedom Monument is progressing and will soon have electrical power so we can
raise the flag and keep it flying. Commemorative bricks are still available and
the forms are at the Post.
With Halloween at the end of the month, "Second
Time Around" is going to be at the Post for a Halloween dance. Costumes are
not mandatory but why not.
We are still working on membership renewal. If
there are any questions about membership please call the Post.
If you're
interested in joining the Legion, Ladies Auxiliary or Sons of the American Legion
call the Post for information after 5pm (786-5356) or me at 596-1674.
As always,
Linda or Patti will have the canteen open at 5pm every day and bingo will be Friday
night at 8pm. Horseshoes are on Saturday at 7:00pm. Our monthly Legion meetings
are on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7pm with dinner served at 6 pm.
For God and Country
