The
Commanders Corner
By George Walker
American Legion Post 154
Commander Tybee Island, GA
It's November
and time for Thanksgiving turkey and some more college football.
It's also
time to thank our veterans for their sacrifices at the annual Veteran's Day Parade
on November 11th.
Remember the veteran's from World War I, World War II and
the Korean (Conflict) who are dying by the hundreds every day. Remember the veteran's
of Vietnam, Grenade and Panama, many of whom are still struggling to balance their
lives after going to war. Remember the veterans who fight new battles in Iraq
and Afghanistan where it is more likely to be attacked with a road side bomb than
an enemy soldier.
And please remember the sacrifices of the families of veterans.
When fathers or mothers, sons or daughters go off to war, the families stay home
and pray for their safe return.
Take the time to shake the hand of a soldier,
sailor, marine or airman and thank them for their service.
Legion Post 154
is proud to announce that we are working with "Night Stalker Association"
of the 3d Bn. 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment at Hunter Army Airfield
their family support unit.
Members of the Night Stalkers have been invited
to our Post meeting on November 9th. Come by the Post and say hello and thank
you.
As usual, bingo is on Friday at 8:00pm. Cards go on sale at 7:00pm. Horseshoes
are Saturday at 7:00pm. Both events are open to the public and everyone is invited
to participate.
We are continually looking for new members. If you're interested
in the Legion, Ladies Auxiliary or Sons of the Legion call the Post (786-5356)
for information.
As always, Linda or Patti will have the canteen open at 5pm
every day. Our monthly Legion meetings are on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7pm
with dinner served at 6 pm.
For God and Country
