Easter will be here, April 4th, so I'm going to give everyone a little advanced notice of our 61st Annual Easter Egg Hunt that will be held a Jaycee Park on Saturday, April 3rd. We plan to start at 1:00pm with about a thousand eggs scattered on and around the park. There will be five age groups ranging from toddlers to ten years of age. ALL children in the age groups are welcome. This has become a real event here at Tybee with parents and grandparents having as much fun as the kids.
The first batch of engraved bricks arrived and have been put in place at the"Circle of Freedom" War Memorial on Butler Avenue. This fits right in with the Memorial Committee's plan to have a flag raising at the monument on April 10th followed immediately with a low country boil at Memorial Park.
The flag raising will be at the Monument from 11:00am to 12:00 noon. We will then move to the park for some shrimp and sausage cooked "low country" style.
A lot of work has gone into the monument with a lot more to do. I hope everyone will plan to attend.
Bingo is on Friday's at 8:00pm. Cards go on sale at 7:15pm and is open to the public. Everyone is invited.
Horseshoes, also open to the public, will start back on Saturday, March 6th at 7:00pm. This will be our opening for the 2010 year. We're going to award the winners from last year and have a covered dish meal to help us "throw" the year off properly. Hopefully we can start eating around 6:15 so we can begin at 7:00.
We continue to look for new members. If you're interested in the Legion, Ladies Auxiliary or Sons of the Legion call the Post (912-786-5356) for information.
The Legion and Auxiliary meet on the second Monday of the month, with social hour (and food) starting at 6:00pm and the meeting at 7:00pm. The Sons of the Legion meet on the third Monday at 7:00pm.
As always, Linda or Patti will have the canteen open at 5:00pm every day.
