The
Commanders Corner
By George Walker American Legion Post 154
Commander Tybee Island, GA
Here we are coming into another "New Year" and all of the
challenges that come with it. We at American Legion Post 154 are going
to make every effort to make this year better than last.
The plaque, with names of Tybee Island residents who served in the Korean
War has been approved and we hope to have it mounted on January 31st.
Ground was broken for the Veteran's Circle of Freedom War Memorial on
December 7th. We look forward to watching the work proceed in the coming
weeks.
Our Sons of the Legion will be having a "Super Bowl" party
at the Post on February 1st. We expect to have more fun this year than
we had last year. There will be a big screen television and a lot of
good food. Come and be with us.
Also plan ahead for our "Valentine's Dance" hosted by the
SAL on February 14th.
Bingo is on Friday's at 8:00pm. Cards go on sale at 7:15pm. Horseshoes
are Saturday at 7:00pm. Both events are open to the public and everyone
is invited to participate.
We continue to look for new members. If you're interested in the Legion,
Ladies Auxiliary or Sons of the Legion call the Post (786-5356) for
information.
The Legion and Auxiliary meet on the second Monday of the month and
the Sons of the Legion on the third Monday. Both meeting are at 7:00pm.
As always, Linda or Patti will have the canteen open at 5pm every day.
Our monthly Legion meetings are on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7pm
with dinner served at 6 pm.
