AUXILIARY Newsletter January 2009

Happy New Year Auxiliary members and Breeze readers,

It is hard to believe that we are now into 2009. The past year gave us some unusual times and many events have very negative impact to our Legion family. I would like to thank each of you for your continued support of our organizations that make up the Legion family, the Legionnaires, the Auxiliary and the SAL. I expect that our request for funding will expand while funds become harder to raise as we all experience personal belt tightening. During these times, we need to be kind and thoughtful to each others and particularly those who are in need.

Our holiday season was at the Legion was indeed merry and bright! We had over 60 participate in our white elephant gift exchange. The Legion Family also hosted the community wide children's Christmas Party. The Post was packed and some people found very creative ways to find their space for dinner like a very special picnic that I observed. These girls really were having fun! Santa arrived with the help of the TIPD and the children mobbed him like a rock star! Santa gave presents to over 100 children.

The Auxiliary also had a present drive for Savannah Beach Nursing Home and were able to provide presents to each resident. We also delivered presents to the Veterans and Veteran surviving spouse residents of both Oceanside and Savannah Beach Nursing Homes. This is a truly good thing to be able to do to honor those who served!

As I promised in the last article, we have made it through the busy season and it is time for a little rest! Enjoy the rest because SLA has events coming up in February that you will not want to miss. Until next time, see you at the Legion.

President
