Do I have to register to swim?
NO. You do not have to register to swim in the
Atlantic, but you will not be able enter the
fenced area or be apart the World Record attempt.
Do I have to register to be part of the
Guinness World Records® Official Attempt?
YES. Registration allows us to prove the exact
number of participants and helps defray costs
to attempt the World Record. Each registrant
will receive an official Guinness World Records®
Swim Cap and a Long-Sleeve Polar Plunge T-shirt!
I only want to attempt the world record,
do I have to swim?
NO. You may be part of the world record
and not swim. After the world record there will
be 10 minutes to get the heck out of the way
to allow the swimmers easy access to the Atlantic
Ocean.
Do I have to wear the swim cap?
YES. We are trying to break the World Record
for the "Largest Gathering of People Wearing
Swim Caps." This means that everyone must
wear their swim cap for at least 10 minutes!
What form of payment will you accept if
I register in person?
We accept cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard.
Checks should be made payable to Tybee Post
Theater.
What do I do if I have already paid online
and submitted my registration form?
You will still need to pick up your swim cap
and t-shirt. Go to the Will Call line.
Are Plungers crazy to do this?
It helps! But remember, our World Record participants
and Plungers are doing this to benefit the Tybee
Post Theater. Be sure to show up and cheer them
on.
Where does all of the money go?
Everyone who works the event are volunteers
and all of the funds go towards the restoration
of the Tybee Post Theater.
Is my donation tax deductable?
YES. The Tybee Post Theater is a 501 (c) (3)
tax deductable organization. See anyone at the
event if you need a letter or donation certificate.
Can I get a certificate showing I was part
of the world record?
YES. After the world record is broken each participant
can download their certificate from here. A
link to Guinness World Records® and a username
and password will be provided after the event.
Are you authorized to put a fence on the
beach?
YES. A letter of authorization has been obtained
by the Georgia DNR. Care is taken to make sure
nothing is disturbed on the beach. The fence
placement takes into account the rising tide
for January 1, 2012.
