In front of the beautiful backdrop of the Tybee Lighthouse, it is estimated, by unofficial sources, that over 300 people brought in the New Year by taking the plunge into the Atlantic Ocean.

Unofficially there were young and old, conservative and zany. Best headdress award shown below.

WHY? Some say the plunge into the cold water is so bad that there is nothing but up to go for the new year.
